Thames Capital is an investment management firm specializing in absolute-return long/short equity strategies. Founded in 2016, Chief Investment Officer Jay Genzer, along with Partners, James Koutsourakis and Jared Berlin, established Thames Capital Management. The investment team has an average of 20 years investment experience, and a working tenure of over a decade in long/short equity investing.

Jay Genzer
Thames Capital Management LLC, Founder Member, Chief Investment Officer
Jay Genzer, Founder and Chief Investment Officer, is also the Portfolio Manager for the Thames Absolute Return Long/Short Strategy. Mr. Genzer has 23 years of experience in analyzing and investing in private and public companies. From 2009 to present, Mr. Genzer has been managing his private family office, which invests in public and private companies, financing small/mid size businesses and purchasing medical receivables. From 1994 to 2009, Mr. Genzer was a Portfolio Manager at Cantillon Capital and Lazard Asset Management for U.S. long/short equities. Mr. Genzer was also former Head of Risk Management at Lazard. From 1989 to 1994, Jay was at McKinsey & Company as a senior engagement manager streamlining companies in the technology, life and property insurance, investment management, and office furniture industries. Jay has B.S. in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University.
James Koutsourakis
Thames Capital Management LLC, Founding Partner
James Koutsourakis is a Founding Partner of Thames Capital. Mr. Koutsourakis has 19 years of experience analyzing and investing in public equities. From 2013 to 2016, Mr. Koutsourakis served in an executive capacity, and as a Director at Portolan Capital Management. From 2003 to 2012, Mr. Koutsourakis served as a Senior Investment Analyst at Cantillon Capital, working on long-short and long-only equity strategies, with a specialized focus on Consumer, Industrial, and the Internet & Media Sectors. In 2003, Mr. Koutsourakis also served as an Analyst at Lightyear Capital. From 1998 to 2003, Mr. Koutsourakis was a Research Analyst for long-short equity strategies at Lazard Asset Management, covering Consumer Staples, Cable & Media, and the Gaming & Lodging Sector. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Koutsourakis also served as a Portfolio Analyst at Lazard. Mr. Koutsourakis began his career in the mutual fund department at the Dreyfus Corporation (1995-1996). Mr. Koutsourakis received a B.S. in Accounting from St. John’s University in 1995.
Jared Berlin
Thames Capital Management LLC, Founding Partner
Jared Berlin is a Founding Partner of Thames Capital. Mr. Berlin has 19 years of experience analyzing and investing in global TMT, business services and industrial companies. From 2014 to 2015, Mr. Berlin focused on public and private investments for his family office. In 2013, Mr. Berlin worked at Suvretta Capital serving as senior research analyst covering technology, media, and telecom investments. In 2012, Mr. Berlin was a Portfolio Manager for a market neutral strategy at Surveyor Capital (a division of Citadel). Mr. Berlin served as a senior analyst at Cobalt Capital from 2009 to 2011, and joined Cantillon Capital at inception, and served in a similar role from 2003 to 2009. From 1998 to 2003, Jared was an analyst at Geo Capital / Wheatley Partners, an investment firm focused on public small cap and early stage venture capital investments. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in Economics in 1998, his education included course work at The London School of Economics and graduate level demographics study.
Steve DiMartino
Chief Financial Officer
Steven DiMartino is Chief Financial Officer of Thames Capital. Mr. DiMartino has 24 years of experience in the Hedge Fund Industry and 5 years of practice in public accounting. Prior to Thames, Mr. DiMartino served as Chief Financial Officer of Atika Capital, LLC from November 2012 to September 2016 and was a founding member and Chief Financial Officer of Kacela Capital, LLC from November 2006 to November 2012. Mr. DiMartino has also served as Chief Operating Officer of Elm Ridge Capital Management, LLC from 2002 to 2006 and Chief Financial Officer of JLF Asset Management, LLC from 1998 to 2002. Prior to this, he has served as the Chief Financial Officer of Wessels Asset Management (from 1997 to 1998), the Controller of Mark Partners (from 1992 to 1997) and an audit manager specializing in hedge funds at Goldstein Golub Kessler & Co. (from 1987 to 1992). Mr. DiMartino earned his BA in Accounting from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1987. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants.
Eric Elliott
Business Development
A financial services veteran, Eric Elliott has managed the investment portfolios of high-net-worth clients for three decades. Throughout his investment career, Mr. Elliott owned his own boutique firm and was a frequent guest analyst on CNBC’s Squawk Box with Joe Kernan and Sue Herrera. In addition to his tenure as an industry expert, he has served as an executive at a Miami based credit card processing and merchant lending company. In 2012, Mr. Elliott created Starboard Funding 3 LLC, a dynamic entity dedicated to providing working capital to an array of small to medium-sized businesses. Mr. Elliott earned a Bachelors degree in finance from the University of Florida.
Julie Simmons
Investment Research Consultant
Ms. Julie Simmons has 19 years of experience investing globally in consumer-related companies. From 2009 to present, Julie has managed and continues to manage a family portfolio of investments. From 2003 to 2009, Julie served as a senior research analyst at Cantillon Capital Management in London, covering global consumer sectors. From 1998 to 2003, Julie served at research analyst at Lazard Asset Management, responsible for global transportation and consumer retail across all Lazard Asset Management funds. Julie graduated from Columbia Business School, MBA 1998 London School of Economics, and MSC in Public Policy 1993, Princeton University BA 1992 in Political Science (Summa cum Laude).
